Skyblue Mesa Elementary Newsletter of 6-2-09

From the Principal’s Desk

Dear Parents,

We have had another outstanding school year. There are so many people who played an important part in our success. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to Dr. Judy Fish our Superintendent and School Board Members for their leadership, vision and continued support. I would also like to thank the many people who worked together to build pride in our school and its accomplishments.

Thank you to our PTO Board who are hardworking, positive, and supportive, who always give so willingly of their time, talents and energy whenever and wherever they are needed.

Special thank you goes to Sandy Howard, our outstanding PTO President. Her dedication and caring for the children at Skyblue has been an inspirational model for others. We appreciate the hundreds of volunteer hours she has contributed to this school and thank her for her excellent leadership and strong child advocacy.

A special thank you goes to School Site Council Chairperson, Wendy McHaddad, and the School Site Council Members for their involvement and leadership in monitoring and evaluating our school’s curriculum.

A special thank you goes to our many Parent Volunteers. Parents who volunteer are a valuable and important component of the success of our school programs. We need and greatly appreciate the thousands of hours donated each year in our classrooms.

A special thank you goes to our School/Business Partnerships - Mimi’s, In and Out Burger, Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour & Restaurant, Home Town Buffet, and Fun & Fit Gymnastics Center. They provide us with donations and gift certificates throughout the year.

A special thank you goes to all the highly qualified teachers who have worked tirelessly to provide a productive and positive learning climate where an opportunity for quality instruction, creativity and academic achievement for each student was accomplished. They are among the best teachers the profession has to offer and we are fortunate to have their services here at Skyblue Mesa.

A special thank you goes to all the support staff and classified staff who consistently demonstrate the highest degree of dedication and professional performance. We are indeed fortunate to have so many wonderful, warm caring people to work with and nurture our children.

A special thank you goes to our Office Manager Cathy Bench, our School Office Assistants Mary Lou Bjelke and Trisha Hawker, and our Health Clerk Christa Hamburger who make our days brighter and more efficient. They handle the incredible demands and interruptions of the front office with skill, tact, efficiency, and patience. We value their warmth, caring, and dedication.

A special thank you goes to Mr. Pio, Miss Marlene and Mr. Scotty who keep our campus sparkling clean.

A special thank you goes to our wonderful, supportive parents. We greatly appreciate your unfailing support and involvement in your children’s education. Parents who care and are actively involved in the school do make a significant difference in the success of their children.

And a special thank you goes to our students who have worked hard and demonstrated fine progress in all academic areas. They have continued to amaze us with their skills, creativity, and performance. Students have willingly served their school by their involvement in Student Council, Peace Patrol, Student Valet Program, and demonstrating general kindness, respect and consideration for each other. The Skyblue Mesa Staff cherishes the privilege we have in being able to work with such wonderful children. They provide the joys and rewards that come from such an important responsibility as that of educating children.

All of you make up the Community of Skyblue Mesa. You are the ingredients that make Skyblue Mesa a California Distinguished School.

Thank you all and have a great summer!

Debbie Bohn, Principal
