Message from Mrs. Bogosian

I have serious concerns about the large amount of tardies we have been experiencing this year.  When a child comes to school late, they need to catch up to what the rest of the class is doing.  The teacher needs to interrupt the lesson to assist the late student.  This affects the entire class.  We want our students to get into the habit of being on time for their commitments.  Being late on a regular basis can lead to the attitude that school is not important.  We appreciate your help in getting your students to school on time.  Next year school will start much earlier.  Please practice now by bringing your students to school as close to 8:00 a.m. as possible.

 

Students with more than three tardies in an attendance period will have a letter sent home.  If the tardies continue, parents will be asked to attend a meeting of the School Attendance Review Board.  Students may also be kept after school to make up the time they missed.

 

Absences

 If you have a student who will be absent from school, or will be coming to school late due to an appointment, it is important that you report the absence/tardy to the school office as soon as possible. You can do this by calling the “24-hour attendance phone line” at 297-8870. You may also email Mrs. Wright at lwright@saugus.k12.ca.us to let her know of your child’s absence. We appreciate your help in clearing your child’s absences.

 

 

 

Father Daughter Dance

Fathers and Daughters are cordially invited to Emblem’s Annual Sweetheart Dance. This event will take place on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the MPR.  Girls may attend with their father or an adult male significant other.

RSVP forms are due now.  

 

Save the Date

Please join us for a fundraising night at Rubio’s Restaurant on Thursday, February 25^th from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

 

After School Pick-Up

If there is a change in the way your child normally goes home, a written note must be given to your child’s teacher that morning. We will not rely upon a verbal request from a student.  Please be on time to pick up your child.  There is no after school supervision.

 

Kindergarten Round-Up March 1-5, 2010

Kindergarten Round-up is a time of pre-registration for the 2010-2011 school year.  Your child must be five years old on or before December 2, 2010 to register for the 2010-2011 school year.  Emblem packets are now available at the school office.  All kindergarten students who live in the Emblem attendance area, including River Village, and those families who are choosing to remain with Emblem should register at Emblem.  Kindergarten Round-Up will take place March 1^st-5^th.

 

Yearbook Pictures

We need your pictures for the school yearbook.  Please submit any pictures you take of events at school (1^st day of school, class events, field trips, etc.) for yearbook consideration.  You may either e-mail the photos directly to wondermel72@earthlink.net

or put them on a disk to drop off at the front office.  The yearbook’s success depends on your photos, so please snap away and submit your pictures.  Send pictures anytime with a simple description of what event they are from and your contact information.  Thank you for your help!

 

Saugus Cheer Clinic
