From the Principal’s Desk

Dear Parents,

Last spring parents filled out surveys regarding several aspects of Skyblue Mesa.  I have attached the survey with results.  Site Council compiled the surveys.  Each week I will address one grade level or program and answer concerns and share comments.

Kindergarten Parent Surveys: 21 out of 57 surveys were returned.  Comment: “Parents should sign a sheet when they drop their students off for safety reasons.”  Answer:  I know we do this in Fun for Fours.  In Kindergarten the students are dropped off at the gate and a yard supervisor is there to monitor for ten minutes before class.  Comments: “My child has excelled tremendously. We are very happy with her teacher.”

 

(Parent’s quote:  “I love the morning broadcast what a great way for kids to overcome low self- esteem, low confidence, etc.)

Valet Reminder

Please remember, if you are the lead car in the Valet, pull all the way up as you drive through to pick up your student/students.

Valet Parent Volunteers Needed

Our morning Valet Program has started off fantastic with many 4^th, 5^th and 6^th graders signing up to volunteer.  We still need some more parent supervisors to help make sure things are running smoothly and safely.  If you can spare thirty minutes any morning from 7:30am-8:00am, please leave a note for Sandy Howard in the office.  Remember, you don’t have to be the parent of a Student Valet to help!

Volunteer TB Test

The law requires that VOLUNTEERS who have contact with pupils on a regular basis have a valid Mantoux Skin Test (not a chest x-ray) to test for a lack of presence of tuberculosis.  If you are in contact with the children in your child’s classroom (or another classroom) as a part of your volunteer “assignment”, you must submit a negative Mantoux test to our school office for our records. 

Individuals with a documented positive skin test must present a certificate from a health provider that they are free of communicable disease at least every four years.  The health provider may or may not choose to use a diagnostic chest

X-ray for people with previously known positive skin tests.

Mantoux tests are given locally by First Care on Soledad Canyon Road near Bouquet Junction, or by your physician.  The individual volunteer(s) must cover expense of the test, as the school district cannot cover the cost.

Estimados Padres,

La pasada Primavera Uds. llenaron una encuesta relacionada con algunos aspectos acerca de Skyblue Mesa.  Yo voy agregar la información con el resultado de la encuesta.  El Consejo Escolar reviso los comentarios.  Cada semana yo voy a hablar sobre un nivel de grado o programa y contestar preguntas y compartir comentarios.

Encuesta a Padres con niños en Kindergarten: 21 de 57 fueron devueltos.  Comentario: “Los padres deben firmar la lista cuando ellos dejen los niños, por razones de seguridad.” Respuesta: Yo se que lo hacemos en Pre School para el programa de “Fun for Fours” pero en Kindergarten los Padres dejen los niños en la reja y un supervisor del campo los cuida por 10 minutos antes de empezar las clases.  Comentario: “Mi hija ha adelantado enormemente.  Nosotros estamos muy contento con su maestra.”

 

(Padres comentaron: “Me encanta el programa de noticias en la mañana, es un gran manera de niños de baja confianza en si mismo y que son tímidos, estimulen su confianza, etc.)

Necesitamos Padres Voluntarios Para el Programa de Valet

Nuestro Programa de Valet de la mañana ha empezado fantástico con muchos alumnos de 4^to, 5^to y 6^to  grado firmando como voluntarios.  Nosotros seguimos necesitando más Padres Supervisores para que ayuden a que todo sea fácil y seguro.  Si Ud. puede dar 30 minutos cualquier mañana de 7:30am-8:00am, por favor deje una nota en la oficina a Sandy Howard.  Recuerde Ud no tiene que ser padre de un estudiante Valet para ayudar!

Prueba de Tuberculosis para Voluntarios

La ley exige que personas que trabajen directamente con alumnos tiene que tener los resultados de Mantoux Skin Test (no un rayo x de los pulmones.)  Si vas a tener contacto con alumnas en cualquier clase, tenemos que tener prueba del resultado del Mantoux test.

Individuos que han recibido resultados positivos tiene que presentar el certificado de un proveedor de salud, (doctor) un certificado que indica que no

tengas enfermedades contagiosas.  Esta prueba se tiene que hacer cada 4 anos.

Las pruebas de Matoux se dan localmente en First Care en la calle Soledad Canyon Road cerca de Bouquet Junction o por su doctor,  Voluntarios tiene que pagar por esta prueba.  El distrito no va pagar para estas pruebas.  Gracias.
