Dear Parents,

Deputy Pat Rissler spoke with Skyblue Mesa’s PTO at our last Board Meeting regarding the Santa Clarita School Block Watch Program.  Surrounding neighbors have been mailed letters and brochures.  The following is what the letter says:

 

“The Santa Clarita Valley Station is in need of your assistance with the School Block Watch Program.  The program is simple; neighbors in the area of a school keep a watchful eye on their neighborhood school for any criminal activity.

 

The program would essentially follow along the same lines as a Neighborhood Watch Program.  Simple stated, if there is a crime occurring, about to occur, or suspicious persons hanging around the schools, please call the Santa Clarita Valley Station and report the activity for a response by a patrol unit.  We need help of the community to protect school property and this proactive approach will help increase the level of safety in and around our neighborhoods.  Soon, you will see signs around your school, similar to the one on the attached handout.

 

To participate in the School Block Watch Program all you need to do is keep a watchful eye on the school near you, report to the station any illegal activity you see by calling (661) 255-1121 and, if an emergency is in progress call 911.”

Mrs. D. Day – June 6th

After thirty-eight years of service with the Saugus Union School District, Mrs. Dagodag, one of Skyblue’s terrific Kindergarten teachers, will be retiring this June.  We are compiling a memory book to present to her on June 6th,

“Mrs. D. Day”.  If you have any special memories, please jot them down, or if you have pictures you would like to add to this book, please bring them to Skyblue by May 30^th in care of Mrs. Phelan.  (Pictures will not be returned)

 

Astrocamp Scholarships Needed

If you are in the position to help a student make it to Astrocamp, you can send a check to the office and ask Cathy Bench to apply it toward scholarships. It is very expensive but every little bit helps.  Thank you.

City of Santa Clarita-Building Connections with Your Child

The City of Santa Clarita is hosting a workshop series at the Valencia Library, 23743 W. Valencia Blvd, Valencia. Estimados Padres,

En la última reunión del Comité o Consejo de Skyblue Mesa el Deputy Pat Rissler hablo con miembros del PTO respeto a un Programa de Vigilancia alrededor de las cuadras (block) de la escuela de Santa Clarita.  A los vecinos de los alrededores les serán enviados cartas y folletos.  Lo siguiente es lo que dicen las cartas:

 

“La Estación del Valle de Santa Clarita esta en la necesidad de su ayuda con el “School Watch Block Program” o Programa de Vigilancia de las Escuelas.  El programa es simple; vecinos en el área de la escuela mantienen los ojos en la escuela de su vecindario sobre cualquier actividad criminal.

 

El programa sigue la misma línea o regla que el de “Neighborhood Watch” (Vecinos Vigilados).  Simplemente reportar si se esta cometiendo un crimen, si se va a cometer o alguna persona sospechosa anda rondando cerca de la escuela, por favor llame a la Estación de Santa Clarita Valley y reporte la actividad para que una patrulla pueda responder.  Nosotros necesitamos la ayuda de la comunidad para proteger la propiedad de la escuela y esta acción puede ayudar a aumentar el nivel de seguridad en y alrededor de nuestro vecindario.  Pronto veremos anuncios alrededor de su escuela, similar al que va con esta carta.

 Para participar en el Programa de Vigilancia de las Escuelas todo lo que tiene que hacer es mantener los ojos en los alrededores de la escuela cerca de Ud., reportar a la estación cualquier actividad

ilegal que Ud. vea llamando al (661) 255-1121 y en una emergencia en progreso llame al 911.”

Día para Mrs. D. Day – el 6 de Junio

Después de 38 anos de servicio con el Distrito Saugus, Sra. Dagodag,  una de las maestras maravillosas de Kindergarten, se va retirar este Junio.  Nosotros estamos reuniendo cosas para hacerla un “libro de memoria” para presentar el 6 de Junio  para “Mrs. D. Day”.  Si tienes memorias especiales, por favor escríbelas, si tienes fotos y quiere ponerlas en el libro, por favor tráelos a Skyblue Mesa antes del 30 de Mayo al nombre de Sra. Phelan.  (Fotos no serán devueltas.)

Ciudad de Santa Clarita-Haciendo Conexiones con su Hijo

La Ciudad de Santa Clarita va ofrecer una serie de Talleres en la Biblioteca de Valencia, 23743 W.
