Dear Parents,

I survived disappearing during the magic show and yes there were a few students that were worried.  Thank you for supporting our magic night! Parent Conference invitations have gone home.  Please make every effort to attend.  Teachers will be explaining various programs that will assist students struggling in math or reading.  If you need a translator please let your teacher know. 

From the 2007 parent survey: First Grade Parent Comment: “I am concerned that the gates are left open.”  Response: “Our gates will be replaced with security gates during our fall break.  The new gates will be closed at all times. The gates that are here now are not panic gates, which mean they do not open both ways.  They must be kept open to meet fire safety codes. Parent comment: Skyblue Mesa has teachers that really care about doing a good job.  I think the commitment to academic excellence is the highlight of this school.” Response: I could not agree with you more. Skyblue Mesa teachers work diligently to do the best job they can for our students. 

Please mark your calendars.  On October 22^nd, at the PTO Meeting at 7:00pm, Donna Nuzzi from the City of Santa Clarita, will be sharing what you can do at home to be prepared in the event of a disaster.  I will be explaining Skyblue’s Disaster Preparedness Plan and Gary Scott will also be on hand to show you some kits you can purchase for your home or office.  Please come and find out what happens when students are at school during a disaster and what you can do at home.

Volunteer TB Test

The law requires that VOLUNTEERS who have contact with pupils on a regular basis have a valid Mantoux Skin Test (not a chest x-ray) to test for a lack of presence of tuberculosis.  If you are in contact with the children in your child’s classroom (or another classroom) as a part of your volunteer “assignment”, you must submit a negative Mantoux test to our school office for our records. 

Individuals with a documented positive skin test must present a certificate from a health provider that they are free of communicable disease at least every four years.  The health provider may or may not choose to use a diagnostic chest X-ray for people with previously known positive skin tests.

 Mantoux tests are given locally by First Care on Soledad Canyon Road near Bouquet Junction, or by your physician.  The individual volunteer(s) must cover expense of the test, as the school district cannot cover the cost.

 

Attention Parents & Students

Students are not allowed to wear

CROC SHOES and/or sandals to school.  Tennis shoes are appropriate.

Sobrevivi el truco de desaparecer en el Espectáculo de Magia.  Hubo algunos estudiantes que estaban preocupados.  Gracias por su apoyo en nuestro “Espectaculo de Magia!”  Ya mandamos las invitaciones para conferencias entre Padres y Maestros.  Por favor haga un esfuerzo para venir a la conferencia.  Los maestros van a explicar los programas que ofrecemos para estudiantes que tienen dificultad en lectura y matematica.  Si Ud. necesita alguien que traduzca, por favor hagale saber a la maestra.

De la Encuesta de Padres 2007: Un comentario de un padre con un hijo en primer grado: “Estoy preocupado que la verja se queda abierta.”  Respuesta:  Nuestra verja va ser reemplasada con verjas de seguridad durante nuestra vacacion de Otono.  Las verjas nuevas van a quedar cerrada.  Las verjas que tenemos ahora no abren de los dos lados y tienen que quedar abierta por el codigo de seguro de fuego.

Comentario de un Padre:  La escuela Skyblue Mesa tiene maestros que verdaderamente le importa hacer su trabajo bien hecho.  Yo creo que la devocion a la excelencia academica es la meta de esta escuela.  Respuesta:  Para mi tienes toda la razon.  Los maestros de Skyblue trabajan haciendo lo major que ellos pueden para nuestros estudiantes.  Por favor marquen en sus calendarios el 22 de Octubre Donna Nuzzi de la ciudad de Santa Clarita va compartir con Uds. que puedan hacer Uds. en la casa para  prepararse  en caso de un desastre.  Yo voy a explicar  el plan que tenemos preparado en caso de desastre y Gary Scott va también estar acqui para ensenarle a Uds. algunas cosas que pueden comprar para tener en su casa o lugar de trabajo.  Por favor vengan y vean que pasa cuando los estudiantes estan en la escuela durante un desastre y Uds. estan en su casa.

Prueba de Tuberculosis para Voluntarios

La ley exige que personas que trabajen directamente con alumnos tiene que tener los resultados de Mantoux Skin Test (no un rayo x de los pulmones.)  Si vas a tener contacto con alumnus en cualquier clase, tenemos que tener prueba del resultado del Mantoux test.

 

Individuos que han recibido resultados positivos tiene que presentar el certificado de un provedor de salud, (doctor) un certificado que indica que no tengas enfermedades contagiosas.  Esta prueba se tiene que hacer cada 4 anos.

 

Las pruebas de Matoux se dan localmente en First Care en la calle Soledad Canyon Road cerca de Bouquet Junction o por su doctor,  Voluntarios tiene que pagar por esta prueba.  El distrito no va pagar para estas pruebas.  Gracias.
