Skyblue Mesa Newsletter of 9/4/07
Abajo se encuentra el boletin en Espanol.
From the Principal’s Desk
Thank you parents for attending Back to School Night. We value your support and want to work with you to give your child the best possible education. I have gone over the results of the STAR testing results for grades 3-6 and am setting up intervention classes for students who scored basic and below in Math or English Language Arts. Please remember that this is just one measure of your child’s ability. I will be talking to teachers and looking at beginning of the year assessments to identify students at risk. Teachers will be discussing student progress and academic intervention programs at your Goal Setting Conference. These programs will be starting in the next couple of weeks. Statistics have shown that the two things parents can do that greatly impact student learning are making sure their children do there homework every night and attend school daily. I have purchased planners for every third through sixth grade student so they can write their homework down each night. The planner can also be used for parent and teacher communication. Additionally, every teacher has e-mail and voice mail for your convenience.
I will be giving out dog tags again each month for perfect attendance. Every time your child gets a dog tag they will also get a raffle ticket towards a prize at the end of the year. The spaghetti dinner/bingo night was a great success. Thank you PTO for the delicious dinner and entertaining bingo game. We appreciate all your hard work and the pounds and pounds of spaghetti you cooked!
Computer lab, music, library, and P.E. will begin the week of September 11th.
Thank you for your patience at after school pick up. As teachers get to know you and your children, the process will become quicker. The most important thing is the safety of your children.
Debbie Bohn, Principal
Reminder for Parents and Volunteers
Please remember all parents must sign in and get a visitor pass before coming on campus. This is district policy and is for the safety of all students.
Cartridges for Kids
We are still collecting “Cartridges for Kids”. In addition to the cartridges, we will be excepting video games, video games systems, and digital cameras. Please drop off items in the school office. Thank you.
Office Machine Training
Volunteers cannot use the office machines if they have not been trained. Wendy Mc Haddad will do the training on Fridays at 8:00am.
Rashes in the School Setting
If any student comes to school with a rash of any kind, that student will be sent to the Health Office. The student’s parent/guardian is then called to pick the student up from school. That student
may not return to school without a written note from a physician or other
licensed health care practitioner stating the nature of the rash, that the rash is
non-communicable and/or that appropriate treatment has been given, if
applicable. We are trying to protect the health of all students and staff when we exclude students with potential communicable diseases. No one at the school site can diagnose what a particular rash might be. Only a licensed medical practitioner can diagnose. Thank you for understanding.
